We would like to start the year off with a bang by having a Calcutta themed squash tournament on the evening of Friday September 14th and late morning to early evening of September 15th!
A calcutta tournament is a handicapped tournament where a stronger play will start out with less points per game than their opponent for an entire best of 5 match to 11. The tourney will run like a regular tournament with a consolation bracket for the 1st round losers. So you will be guaranteed a minimum of at least two matches.
The farther you make it in the tournament the more hard cold cash you take home at the end of the day! Here's the catch....
HOW TO MAKE MONEY:
Friday evening (September 14th) at 5:30pm people playing in this event or not will bet on a player they think will make it farthest in the tournament. If that person has the highest bid on that player they will "own" them for the duration of the tournament. This means that if your player makes it to the semi finals they will split the semi-final payout 50/50 with the person that had the winning bet on them! This payout will work similarly for other payout rounds including the finals which will be played early Saturday Afternoon. Payout values will be established once the divisions with their respective participants are set.
You may only "own" a maximum of two participants in the tournament and yes you may bet on yourself so you can keep your entire payout if you make it to a payout round....
In addition to this, there will be a lightning round following the finals immediately on the Saturday evening for all registered participants. On the Friday evening we will be serving some pizza to satisfy your betting appetites!
If this is something you would like to play, please sign-up by email or on the registration sheet posted in the squash area by Tuesday September 11th! Your first start time will be released on September 12th. The cost for this event will be $20 in cash made payable to Ben, Gavin, or Ian and if you are betting on players we ask that you make payment in cash so as to easily transfer payments to the people that make it to the payout rounds.
